Healing at Home: Second Surgery Milestone Met

The twins have successfully navigated their second surgery. This was the riskiest procedure to date! Thankfully, they have now been discharged and are recovering at home, a powerful milestone made possible through your continued prayers and support.

We are especially thankful for the incredible medical team whose expertise, care, and courage brought the girls safely through this complex and delicate operation. Their skill and compassion continue to inspire us.

Fati and Mariem are doing well. Their incisions and surgical wounds are healing, and they are slowly adjusting to life outside the hospital. Both were discharged with helmets to help gently reshape their heads, which had flattened from spending so much time lying down during their recovery.

Fati, the more medically fragile of the two, returned home with a feeding tube and a small oxygen device for nighttime use. She experienced two episodes of low oxygen saturation while in the hospital, and this added support helps ensure her brain gets the oxygen it needs. She’s been crying more often—understandably—as she adjusts to the pressure of the helmet and the many changes happening around her. But she is brave and surrounded by love.

Their next surgery is scheduled for May, and we will continue to walk alongside them and their mother every step of the way.
